Salsa is a musical Genre that evolved from a mixture of Latin rhythms, mostly from Cuba. The term salsa was became popular back in the 70's, even though it was already used in the early 1930s, as you can find it in the name of the song "Échale Salsita" composed by "Ignacio Piñeiro".

The salsa music is has many different origins and mixes a variety of Cuban rhythms, some rooted at the African slaves such as the Guaguancó. Other rhythms include Son, Mambo, Guaracha, Songo, and Timba.
